According to a new study by the Center for Disease control and prevention shows that the U.S. yearly infection rate of HIV is 40% higher than previously reported.

Formerly the CDC reported 40,000 people became HIV positive in 2006. That figure has now been updated to 56,300  

If this new report is accurate, it means the U.S has under counted new HIV cases by about 15,000 per year for 15 years. That would make roughly 225,000 more cases in the U.S. than previously thought.

Increasing the total estimate to around 1.3 million.

53% of all new infections are by gay and bisexual males of all races. The second highest demographic for HIV infections include African American men and women.

Blacks: 83.7 per 100,000
Hispanics:29.3 per 100,000

That represents a fucking 0.089% prevalence percentage.  This rate is not even at an unpredecented 0.1% . That says it all.  Every time you have sex with a member of this group, you have this percentage of contracting HIV. The risk is significantly lower than 0.089%.

The miniscule 0.089% risk lies in high risk homosexual and high risk heterosexual sex as stipulated by the studies. So, therefore, it lies in hookers, fags and men who have sex with them in the US. And even then you don't even have a ghost of a chance. People who use needles have a higher risk as well. BTW, the 40% increase affects the estimate rate, not the values posted above.

Even though the percentage is exceedingly low, it is imperative that one screen partners. But when factoring in these accounts, the risk of HIV is exaggerated to encourage people to make sure they know the status of their partners.
